First of all, all scripts should be phrased in a positive way. Beginning your scripts with negative phrases like “I will stop” or “I don’t want to” will cause your subconscious mind to snap its “defenses” into place. Good examples of positive scripts include “I will lose weight” and “I will quit smoking”.

Secondly, let your scripts be directed toward your goal. For example, in the case of losing weight, you will need to specify the number of pounds you intend to lose per day and the weight you want to achieve. The resulting script will be “I will lose 2 pounds every day so that I will achieve my goal weight of 100 pounds.”

Thirdly, make sure that your scripts are progressive, especially if you are showing improvement in your day to day routine. Let us say that you have successfully cut 1 stick from your usual habit of smoking 1 pack of cigarettes per day. Your script can be “I have removed 1 stick from my daily habit. Tomorrow, I will be removing another 2 sticks until I completely quit smoking.”

Last but not least, do not repeat the same scripts over and over again. Vary the phrasing of your scripts. If yesterday, you said, “I am losing 2 pounds”, today you can say “I will be eating healthy today.”
