How Self Hypnosis Techniques Changed My Life
Hey there, it’s Steve again and I just want to share with you a story that one of my reader (now a close friend) who I’ve been exchanging emails for quite some time now. He sent this one to share his story with all you guys. Hope you enjoy and appreciate what he did.
Here’s his email:
Although it may sound like a cliché, the fact remains that if it were not for self hypnosis techniques, I probably would not be alive today.
Let me start from the beginning. As a child, I loved to eat. While my mother taught me to enjoy healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, she also satisfied my hunger cravings in between meals by making sure that I always had a hefty stock of my favorite potato chips and Chiz Curls. Although I was not conscious of my looks back then, I admit to having secretly preened whenever someone would pinch my cheeks and say, “What a cute, chubby little boy you are!” or “Isn’t he adorable!”
As I reached my High School and College years, however, I came to realize just how fat I had become from the way my classmates reacted toward me. While there were a few who advised, “Maybe should try to lose some weight. You always seem to be running out of breath at the slightest exertion,” many were quick to insult me and call me names like “Fatso!”, “Tubbo!” or “Lard Ass!” This name-calling should have ignited the drive in me to curb my overeating habit. Instead, depression made me turn to food even more. In eating junk food, I found comfort from the loneliness and the ridicule.
This all changed when I suffered a heart attack at a very young age of 25 years old. I was applying for a job at web designer studio when my chest started pounding and I felt that my heart was being squeezed. My doctor told my parents that, at 247 pounds, I was obese and I needed to lose weight fast. Because I wanted the easy way out of this weight problem, I opted to go for bariatric surgery, which involved putting a band around my stomach to control my food intake.
The problem was, even after the surgery, I still couldn’t stop eating. Yes, I was losing weight. However, I still could not stop myself from stuffing food in my mouth. I was always hungry; I wanted…no, I must…eat!
Since my eating disorder has a psychological component to it, plus the fact that I was in the very real danger of my lap band breaking as a result of my binging, I was referred to a psychiatrist. After reviewing my case and doing a few interviews with me, she suggested that I try self hypnosis to curb the binge eating.
My psychiatrist advised that I do a Google search for self hypnosis instructional pertaining to stopping the habit of overeating. Needless to say, I found a lot of these. I ended up saving a number of free self hypnosis downloads that seemed promising. These downloads consisted of self hypnosis audio and self hypnosis video files. I’ve also downloaded self hypnosis scripts in the form for free hypnosis mp3 files. After I’ve saved up a number of these hypnosis self improvement instructionals, I played them to my psychiatrist, who in turn helped me to choose which files would best help in addressing my problem. Since I had problems relaxing, she also taught me a few meditation techniques. She also gave me video files of self esteem techniques so that I will start to feel good about myself. Needless to say, after just a month of self hypnosis, I was finally able to curb my habit of snacking and overeating. Because my eating was at last under control, I was able to lose 80 pounds in two months.
Don’t let bad habits such as overeating and smoking prevent you from becoming the healthy person you want to be. If these habits are getting you down, pick yourself up again with self hypnosis. Believe me when I tell you that if it wasn’t for the many self hypnosis techniques that I learned, I wouldn’t be the lean, mean sports-loving guy that I am today.
